Responsible use


As with most substances, use of marijuana comes with some risk. Learn more about how to be responsible when using marijuana. Tips for responsible use may depend on how or where you use and what you plan on doing after. Be safe. Be responsible with marijuana. 

As of 2016, the Colorado Department of Revenue requires that all marijuana products use the universal symbol below on packaging and directly on edible products to signify that the product contains marijuana. Educate yourself and your out of town guests about what this symbol means. Be sure to teach your kids not to eat or drink anything with this symbol. And remember to always store marijuana products safely.

THC symbol

  • The symbol must be on all product packaging and stamped onto edibles (where possible). 

  • ​The symbol contains the letters "THC" which stands for​ ​Tetrahydrocannabinol, the chemical ​in marijuana ​that makes you feel “high.”
